A car accident in San Diego resulted in major injuries for a 6-year-old girl and relatively minor injuries for her aunt the morning of October 10, 2011. 10News reports that the injury pedestrian collision happened at Menlo and University avenues when the girl and the woman who were walking in a marked crosswalk were struck by a Honda Accord. The female driver of the Accord told officials she did not see the pair in the crosswalk because of the sun's glare. The girl sustained major head injuries and was transported to an area hospital. An investigation is ongoing.

Officials have arrested two women in connection with a deadly car accident in San Bernardino that killed 38-year-old Gary Marshall. The Victorville Daily Press reports that the hit-and-run crash occurred as Marshall was walking down Mojave Street in Hesperia early morning on October 4, 2011. He was struck by a vehicle near I Avenue. The vehicle left the scene of the crash. Marshall died from his injuries. That afternoon, officials arrested Megan Sofia Vasquez, 22, and 20-year-old Christin Nicole Briggs in connection with the incident. Both have been charged with felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.

A car accident in Whittier resulted in serious injuries for two pedestrians – a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman. The Whittier Daily News reports that the pedestrians were walking in a crosswalk with a green light at Mulberry Drive and Stamy Road the night of September 25, 2011. The light turned red when they were still in a crosswalk at which time they were struck by a Honda Accord. The man suffered a leg fracture while the woman suffered possible internal injuries. Officials are investigating the cause of this incident.

Anita De Guzman Torres, 62, was killed in a car accident in San Diego after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the fatal pedestrian accident occurred in a crosswalk on Eighth Street in National City. Torres was struck by a Honda sedan driven by a 25-year-old Navy sailor who was on his way to work. Torres died from her injuries. Officials are investigating the cause of this incident.

An elderly man who was killed in a car accident in Los Angeles has been identified as 72-year-old Raul Quintanilla. KTLA News reports that the fatal pedestrian accident happened near the intersection of Santa Gertrudes Street and Imperial Highway in La Mirada. Police say Quintanilla was walking on the street when he was hit and dismembered by a Chevy Malibu. The driver fled the scene, but turned himself later that day and was identified as 18-year-old Geoffrey Rocha.

Two men, ages 26 and 29, were injured in a San Diego car accident involving a hit-and-run driver. According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, the pedestrian accident occurred on eastbound Woodside Avenue, near Channel Road, in Lakeside, the late night of September 14, 2011. Officials say two men and a woman were walking near the shoulder of the road when a silver PT Cruiser struck them from behind. The men suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the woman left without reporting if she was injured. The driver of the PT Cruiser left the scene of the collision. Officials are looking for the hit-and-run driver.
