A car accident in Chino resulted in critical injuries for a bicyclist whom officials have identified as 44-year-old Francisco Donato. The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reports that the crash happened on East End Avenue the morning of October 27, 2011. Officials say Donato's bicycle was struck by a southbound 2001 GMC Yukon driven by 18-year-old Gerardo Mendez. Authorities say Mendez was trying to pass another vehicle on the right side when he struck the cyclist. Donato was transported to an area hospital with major injuries. Officials are investigating the cause of this accident.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Francisco Donato and his family. I pray for his swift and full recovery.

Laws and Liability Issues
California Vehicle Code Section 21754 states that a motorist can pass to the right of another vehicle only on a highway "within a business or residence district with unobstructed pavement of sufficient width for two or more lines of moving vehicles in the direction of travel." A driver would be making an unsafe pass if he or she does not have a clear view of roadway.
If it is determined in this case that Mendez was at fault, then, he could be held liable for the injuries and damages caused here. It would be in the best interests of injured victims in such cases to seek the counsel of a skilled San Bernardino personal injury lawyer, who will analyze all aspects of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
