A San Diego car accident involving a school bus and a van injured three people the afternoon of October 21, 2009, 10News reports. San Diego police say the school bus rear-ended a van that was stopped at the intersection of Guymon Street and Euclid Avenue. The school bus hit the van and then crashed into a house causing significant damage. But there was no one in the house at the time of the crash. Police suspect that the bus driver probably suffered a seizure or some other type of medical condition during the incident.

It's indeed fortunate the school bus was empty except for the driver and that there was no one in the house into which the bus crashed. I wish the injured victims the very best for a speedy and full recovery. Please keep them in your prayers.

Car Accidents in San Diego

Traffic accident statistics released by the California Highway Patrol show that there were 84 deaths and 6,516 injuries reported in 2007 as a result of car accidents in the city of San Diego. In San Diego County, 268 people died and 14,641 were injured as a result of car accidents in 2007.

If the news report is accurate, this bus accident possibly occurred because the person driving the school bus may have lost control of the bus due to a medical condition. I trust investigators are also looking into whether the driver was impaired in any other way. All school bus drivers who are involved in accidents are required by state law to take a blood test to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a part.
