Police are seeking the public's help to apprehend a hit-and-run driver who they say was involved in a Los Angeles car accident that killed 59-year-old Carlos Perez. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, Perez was crossing Alameda Street in downtown Los Angeles early morning on March 29, 2010, when he was struck by a vehicle and dragged several feet.

Police describe the vehicle that hit Perez then, fled the scene of the crash, as a dark-colored 2005 or 2006 Infiniti G 35 sedan. Officials also say that the hit-and-run vehicle left a trail of debris on the roadway, which is how they were able to determine the make and model of the vehicle. If you have information about this hit-and-run driver or vehicle, please call LAPD detectives at 213-972-1825, or call our hotline at 800-6-Hit-N-Run (800-644-8678).

I offer my deepest sympathies to the family of Carlos Perez for their tragic and heartbreaking loss. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved this victim, who has been described as a loving family man. Please keep this grieving family in your prayers.

In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing is suspected, it would be in the best interests of families to contact a reputed Los Angeles personal injury lawyer who will stay on top of the official investigation and make sure that their rights are protected. A knowledgeable car accident lawyer will also advise families about how their own car insurance policy applies to a hit-and-run collision or an incident where the motorist who caused the accident does not have car insurance or sufficient insurance to cover the damages.
