My heart goes out to this deceased accident victim's loved ones. I offer them my deepest sympathies. I'm glad however that the hit-and-run suspect, who was also said to have been under the influence, was apprehended in this case. I trust he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Several Violations of the Law
Based on this news report, it appears that Square was driving under the influence and left the scene of a major injury crash without waiting for authorities, exchanging important information or getting help for the injured victim. It is illegal in most states to operate a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent or higher. Also, under California Vehicle Code section 20001, a driver who is involved in a car accident resulting in injury to a person other than himself or herself, must stop at the scene of the accident.
