Bicycle Accidents

There were five deaths and 279 injuries involving bicycle accidents in San Bernardino County, according to California Highway Patrol's 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). In the city of Chino, there were no fatalities, but 28 injuries reported as a result of bicycle accidents during the same year.

Laws and Liability Issues

California Vehicle Code Section 21754 states that a motorist can pass to the right of another vehicle only on a highway "within a business or residence district with unobstructed pavement of sufficient width for two or more lines of moving vehicles in the direction of travel." A driver would be making an unsafe pass if he or she does not have a clear view of roadway.

If it is determined in this case that Mendez was at fault, then, he could be held liable for the injuries and damages caused here. It would be in the best interests of injured victims in such cases to seek the counsel of a skilled San Bernardino personal injury lawyer, who will analyze all aspects of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
