A Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District worker, who was fatally injured in a Riverside car accident, has been identified as 24-year-old Richard Flores. The Press-Enterprise reports that Flores was applying street markings along Valle Avenue near Sixth Street in Beaumont when he was struck by a vehicle. Flores died at the scene. Officials are investigating the cause of this tragic crash.

A San Francisco area car accident involving a hit-and-run car accident proved fatal for a 31-year-old bicyclist. KCOY News reports that the fatal car accident happened at the intersection of Soquel San Jose Road and O'Neill Lane in Soquel the night of June 27, 2011. A 33-year-old woman reportedly struck the bicyclist with her car and then fled the scene. She did return to the scene within half an hour and talked to officials. An investigation is ongoing.

A car accident in Victorville involving a hit-and-run driver resulted in fatal injuries for 64-year-old Manuel Cadena the night of June 26, 2011. The San Bernardino County Sun reports that the fatal hit-and-run collision occurred near the intersection of Palmdale and Borego roads when Cadena was struck by an SUV. The vehicle fled the scene of the crash and was last seen going east on Palmdale. Cadena was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark green or black SUV, possibly a Toyota. Officials are still looking for the hit-and-run driver.

A car accident in San Diego proved fatal for a wheelchair-bound pedestrian who was hit by a van while in a crosswalk. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports the man was struck and fatally injured at the intersection of Midway Drive, Point Loma Boulevard and Sports Arena Boulevard in the Midway District. Police say that van that hit the pedestrian belonged to Sam Kholi Ministries. An investigation is ongoing.

The Ventura County Star reports that the DUI collision happened when the driver of a Corvette, 28-year-old Samuel Mata, who was racing another car eastbound on Camino del Sol in Oxnard, crashed head-on into two other vehicles. The two victims in the vehicles that were hit sustained injuries, but are expected to survive. The driver of the other vehicle that was racing Mata left the scene. Mata was booked on suspicion of DUI and street racing.

An elderly woman who sustained catastrophic injuries in a San Diego dog bite incident has been identified as 75-year-old Emako Mendoza. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the dog attack occurred the morning of June 18, 2011 when two of her neighbor's pit bulls escaped from their yard and came into her backyard. Mendoza was brutally mauled by the dogs and had to have a leg amputated. Officials are investigating the incident to see if any criminal charges should be filed against the dogs' owner.

A car accident in San Diego resulted in critical injuries for a 15-year-old boy the afternoon of June 15, 2011. 10News reports that the injury crash occurred at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Rose Street in Escondido when an elderly driver lost control of his Chrysler Town and Country van and struck the boy who was waiting to cross the road. The van swerved out of control as the driver attempted to make a left turn. The teenager was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officials are investigating the cause of this accident.
