Going up against GEICO auto insurance in a personal injury case isn't exactly a walk in the park. They are one of the top insurance companies in the United States and they don't like dishing out their profits, even if those profits are going towards paying the medical expenses of those covered under their own policies. It was not that long ago when personal injury attorneys thought that GEICO was one of the best. That GEICO was striving to reshape the mold that we are so used to seeing from other auto insurance companies. Unfortunately, over the past few years GEICO insurance adjusters have routinely denied viable claims and refused to pay victims of catastrophic injuries what they deserve.

The Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway that, as of 2007, provided coverage for more than ten million motor vehicles owned by more than nine million policy holders. You are most likely familiar with their gecko or caveman advertisements aimed to entice people to switch to GEICO because it is easy. If you have received catastrophic injuries from a serious car accident, you know that easy is the least important part of obtaining car accident insurance.

Minor GEICO Car Accidents

Drivers who are involved in auto accidents are known to get the worst side of GEICO. Since personal injury attorneys work on a contingency fee basis, your case has to be worth a certain amount for them to take it. GEICO has caught on to this, and is using it to their advantage in every situation that they can.

If you were involved in a fender bender, but you broke your nose on the steering wheel there would still be some medical expenses. GEICO is now denying these claims, even if their liability for your injuries is clear. Due to this new strategy, many car accident victims are left to fend for themselves in trying to obtain fair compensation. Some are taking the matter to small claims court, which in some instances is the best chance they have.

In the U.S., Farmers Insurance Company denies claims at the rate you and I drink water. Denying a valid auto insurance claim is considered a negotiating tactic. It does not matter who is at fault, but that you believe you will get less compensation for your injuries than you originally thought. For those that are trying to bypass utilizing a personal injury attorney, the fight has become increasingly dirty and Farmers Insurance is leading the way in this disgraceful mission to rob injury victims of compensation for their medical bills.

Fair Compensation?

Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Farmers Insurance is a personal lines property and casualty insurance group that provides auto insurance for those within the United States. It is the third largest insurance group in the United States servicing over 10 million households in 41 states. With their enormous growth and countless currently held policies, you would assume that Farmers insurance would have the ability to handle their business in a respectable manner. They could, but they are making most of their profit off of denying legitimate claims. John Bisnar, personal injury attorney out of Newport Beach California, put it best when describing why Farmers handles themselves in this way.

"Insurance companies limit payouts because that’s where their profit is. You have to remember that when you pay your auto insurance premium only two or three percent of that dollar that you put towards your premium goes to the insurance companies profit. However, every dollar saved on your claim is a dollar of profit, so therefore it is 33 times more profitable for an insurance company to save a dollar on your claim than it is to get a dollar in premium payments. They are in the business to make money. They are a for-profit business and they will make their money in any way that they can."

Do-It-Yourself Claims for compensation

These days, there are instances that it would be best to handle your own personal injury case. If you received minimal injuries from a car accident, your property damage resembles a fender bender, and the insurance adjuster denied your claim, it may be in your best interest to avoid a car accident lawyer and go straight to small claims courts. The best car accident attorneys offer a free consultation; they will be able to advise you of your rights so that you can make the best decision for yourself and your family.
