A car accident in Los Angeles resulted in fatal injuries for an 82-year-old woman the night of November 25, 2010. The Los Angeles Daily News reports that the fatal car accident happened in Lancaster at the intersection of Avenue K and 20th Street. Two vehicles collided at the street intersection. The fatally injured woman was a passenger in one of the vehicles. Seven others – including the two drivers, Ziola Weipp, 39, and Lorena Sameron, 34, were injured in this car accident. A Mississippi jury in Jasper County returned a verdict in a rollover accident case which ordered the Ford Motor Company to pay $131 million to the family of Brian Cole. Cole died in an accident while driving a Ford Explorer in 2001 when his vehicle went off the road and rolled over. His family has been battling Ford in court for years and finally received the verdict they were hoping for. The family is glad this matter is finally over and that the jury placed no fault on Cole for the accident and defective vehicle. At the time of the accident, Brian Cole had been a pitching prospect for the New York Mets. Cole's cousin, who was wearing a safety belt, was in the car and survived the crash. Read More

A 16-year-old girl, who was killed in a suspected DUI collision in San Jose has been identified as Jordan Michelle West. The Contra Costa Times reports that the fatal car accident happened on Highway 101 the morning of November 21, 2010 when a Toyota SUV carrying West crashed into another vehicle, went off the roadway and crashed into a tree. West was pronounced dead at the scene while four other teens – Nathan Viera, Carlos Duevas, Aaron Daniels and the unidentified driver – were hospitalized with injuries. A car accident in Los Angeles the evening of November 14, 2010, resulted in injuries for an elderly man who was driving a 1932 Model A Ford at the time. The Long Beach Press-Telegram reports that the injury car accident involving the antique car and a pizza delivery car occurred in the city of Downey at the intersection of Imperial Highway and Downey Avenue. Both vehicles were attempting left turns. The Ford was broadsided by the pizza delivery car. The driver of the Ford, a man in his 80s, sustained head injuries, but he is expected to survive. A pedestrian accident in San Diego's Normal Heights area resulted in serious injuries for an elderly man the morning of November 20, 2010. 10News reports that the car accident happened on 33rd Street when a car that was backing up hit the 71-year-old man as he was walking on the sidewalk. The driver, who did not realize that he had struck a pedestrian, pulled forward and hit the man again. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for treatment. An elderly driver, who suffered major injuries in a Fresno area car accident has been identified as 71-year-old Jim Gagliardi. The Fresno Bee reports that the major injury car accident happened the night of November 16, 2010 on Highway 41 in Madera County when a Jeep driven by an 18-year-old turned in front of Gagliardi's GMC. Gagliardi sustained major injuries. He was extricated out of the vehicle and hospitalized with injuries. Police said Maxwell Gross, the driver of the Jeep, failed to yield right-of-way to Gagliardi's GMC as he turned into a private driveway. Read More

A rollover accident in Fullerton resulted in injuries for a woman whose vehicle, officials say, was struck by another driver who failed to yield right-of-way at an intersection. The Orange County Register reports that the car accident happened the afternoon of November 15, 2010 at the intersection of Berkeley Avenue and Lemon Street when the driver of a Honda Civic crashed into a GMC Yukon. The Yukon rolled over and its driver was injured. She was transported to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the Civic does not appear to have been injured. An investigation is ongoing. A suspected DUI collision in Twentynine Palms proved fatal for motorcyclist and U.S. Marine, 25-year-old Omar E. Salazar. The Hi-Desert Star reports that the car accident happened on Twentynine Palms Highway the evening of November 5, 2010. Salazar was riding his Yamaha motorcycle west on the highway when he was struck by a Mazda driven by 21-year-old Joel Cohoe. Officials say Cohoe pulled out in front of the motorcycle and that he was under the influence at the time. Cohoe was booked on suspicion of felony drunk driving. Read More
