A DUI collision in San Diego injured two people including the suspected drunk driver. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the injury car accident occurred at the intersection of 48th Street and Polk Avenue in the City Heights area when 20-year-old Marco Martinez ran a red light, crashed into three parked cars and then crashed into an apartment. Martinez and his passenger were injured. Martinez was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. No one in the other vehicles or in the apartment was injured. Read More
The 75-year-old beloved tribal leader who was killed in a October 20, 2010 pedestrian accident at the Santa Rosa Rancheria Reservation in the Fresno area, has been identified as William Vega. KFSN News reports that Vega was found lying on the roadway near the intersection of 17th Avenue and Monie Road in Lemoore. The hit-and-run driver has still not been found or identified. Authorities say the hit-and-run vehicle was heading north on 17th Street at the time of the accident. An investigation is ongoing. Read More
Three people were injured in a car accident in the San Francisco area the morning of October 19, 2010. The Contra Costa Times reports that the injury car accident happened at the intersection of Oakhurst Drive and Eagle Peak Avenue in Clayton when the driver of a Honda sedan ran a red light and crashed into a Toyota Camry. Suspected DUI Collision in Los Angeles Kills Pedestrian

A suspected DUI collision in Los Angeles proved fatal for 70-year-old Eduardo Gayton, who was struck and killed while walking in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of East First Street and Soto Avenue in Boyle Heights. The Los Angeles Times reports that the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the morning of October 25, 2010 when a 17-year-old driver ran a red light at a high rate of speed, hit Gayton and then smashed into a school bus.
Gayton died from his injuries, while 21 students in the school bus sustained relatively minor injuries. The teen along with two of his companions abandoned his car and ran away from the scene, but was apprehended immediately with the help of eyewitnesses. The teen driver faces possible DUI, hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter charges. Read More
A bicyclist who was fatally injured in a hit-and-run car accident the afternoon of October 23, 2010, has been identified by officials as 46-year-old James Laing. The Ventura County Star reports that the fatal car versus bicycle accident happened on Agoura Road near Liberty Canyon Road in Agoura Hills. Both Laing and the driver, 44-year-old S.D. Whitmansegal, were eastbound on Agoura when the car struck the bicyclist. Laing was thrown off his bike and pronounced dead at the scene. Whitmansegal fled the scene, but was stopped by eyewitnesses and arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run, DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Read More
Two Suffer Injuries in Orange County Car Accident
A car accident in Orange County resulted in serious personal injuries for two people the afternoon of October 19, 2010. The Orange County Register reports that the car accident happened on the northbound 241 toll road near Santiago Canyon Road when a Nissan went out of control and hit a Mercedes and then a California Highway Patrol vehicle. The Nissan's driver was seriously injured while the CHP officer suffered moderate injuries. An investigation is ongoing. Read More
A school bus accident in Los Angeles resulted in injuries for the driver of an SUV that collided with the bus at a street intersection. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the car versus school bus accident happened the morning of October 19, 2010 at the intersection of Louise Avenue and Plummer Street in Northridge. There were 10 children in the school bus who were uninjured. The driver of the SUV, however, was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Officials are looking into what caused this school bus accident. It is indeed fortunate that none of the children in the bus was injured. A motorcyclist who was severely injured in a hit-and-run car accident in Riverside has been identified as 38-year-old Pedro O. Jaime. The Press-Enterprise reports that the injury car accident occurred the morning of October 15, 2010 when Jaime was riding his motorcycle on the 91 Freeway off ramp at Lincoln Avenue in Corona. At the time, Jaime was hit by a while Toyota Tundra pickup truck going the wrong way on the off ramp. Jaime suffered major injuries including broken bones and a concussion. The driver apparently got off, asked Jaime if he was OK and then fled the scene. Police are searching for the driver of the pickup truck. Read More
A pedestrian accident in Costa Mesa resulted in serious injuries for a 7-year-old boy the evening of October 16, 2010, The Orange County Register reports. The injury car accident happened in the 1000 block of Valencia. The boy was playing in an alley when he was struck by a car driven by Mauricio Rivera-Ibanez, 22. Authorities arrested Rivera-Ibanez for driving unlicensed and placed him on an immigration hold. Officials also believe the driver was speeding at the time of the pedestrian accident. The boy sustained severe damage to his right leg and will have to undergo several surgeries. Read More
Fatal Riverside Car Accident Involves Suspected Drunk Driver
A driver who was fatally injured in a DUI collision the night of October 15, 2010 has been identified as 25-year-old Humberto Orozco. The Press-Enterprise reports that Orozco was driving eastbound on Limonite Avenue in his 1999 Chevy when he was struck by a 1997 Lexus driven by 24-year-old Rafael Silva. Police say Silva drifted into opposing lanes of traffic and struck Orozco's vehicle. Silva was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI. Read More
