A 21-year-old Chico State University student who was seriously injured in a car accident after her bicycle was hit by a vehicle the morning of January 7, 2010, has been identified as Kelsey LeBoeuf. The Chico Enterprise-Record reports that LeBoeuf was riding her bike near the intersection of First and Walnut streets when she was struck by a pickup truck and then dragged with her bicycle for nearly 100 feet. LeBoeuf suffered a compound fracture to her right leg. She underwent surgery, but is said to be in fair condition. An investigation is ongoing. Read More

Two people have been injured in a Los Angeles car accident after their vehicles collided head-on the morning of January 13, 2010. According to a news report in Daily Breeze, this injury accident happened near the intersection of Torrance Boulevard and Cabrillo Avenue. A pickup truck, which was eastbound on Torrance, crossed over the center line and crashed into a flatbed truck. The driver of the pickup truck sustained serious injuries. The other driver was also hospitalized with injuries. Torrance police officials are investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a part. Read More

A San Bernardino car accident has resulted in serious injuries for a 12-year-old boy who was skateboarding along the shoulder of a street in Hesperia, California the evening of January 10, 2010. The Victorville Daily Press reports that the major injury accident occurred when the boy was skateboarding near Lime and E streets. He was struck by a pickup truck driven by Todd Dean Thomas, 49. The boy sustained major head trauma and compound fracture of one of his legs. Thomas was booked on suspicion of felony DUI. Read More

A woman who recently suffered critical injuries in a San Francisco Bay Area SUV rollover accident and died this week, has been identified as 86-year-old Francis Torney. Bay City News reports that Torney suffered a cervical fracture and other serious injuries in a car crash on the Highway 101 when another driver made an unsafe lane change and struck the vehicle in which she was a passenger. Torney was with two other women in an Isuzu SUV on December 19, 2009 when 54-year-old William Stock crashed his BMW into their vehicle causing it to overturn. Read More

Carl Logan, 71, Hyun Kim, 49, and Richard Jung, 21, were all killed in a Bakersfield car accident caused by a suspected drunk driver. The Bakersfield Californian reports that the chain-reaction crash occurred when 23-year-old Herculano Hernadez who was speeding on the Highway 46 the morning of January 1, 2010, rear-ended a Honda driven by Jung. The impact of the collision caused the Honda to crash into an oncoming 2008 Chevy pickup truck driven by Carl Logan. The Honda and the pickup reportedly crashed head-on. Read More

Paul Michael Stout, 20, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident and two others were injured after a driver rear-ended a vehicle on the 10 Freeway in El Monte and then fled the scene. The Whittier Daily News reports that the hit-and-run driver whom police are still looking for, was speeding in a 2005 BMW and rear-ended a 1998 International truck the morning of January 3, 2010. Stout, who was the front passenger in the BMW, died from his injuries. The driver of the truck and another passenger in the BMW also sustained injuries. Read More

Seven people were injured in a rollover accident on the Highway 101 the afternoon of December 31, 2009. According to a news report in the Ventura County Star, the accident occurred when the 23-year-old driver of the SUV, Kyle Homad, lost control of the vehicle and crashed. California Highway Patrol officials said a tanker truck traveling in the same direction tried to make an unsafe lane change, pushing another driver into the same lane as the SUV. A 21-year-old woman killed January 1, 2010, in a San Diego car accident caused by a suspected drunk driver, has been identified by local authorities as Elaina Luquis-Ortiz, 21. According to a 10news report, the accident occurred on the 805 Freeway during the early morning hours after a suspected drunk driver crashed into her vehicle while she waited with her friends for help. Shortly before the fatal crash Luquis-Ortiz had arrived to help out two friends who were stranded on the freeway because their vehicle had a flat tire. Read More
