At least one person was hospitalized with injuries after an Orange County car accident, which involved four vehicles, The Orange County Register reports. The car accident occurred the afternoon of December 30, 2009 on the 57 Freeway in Anaheim, involving a Toyota Tacoma, Ford F-150, a Honda Accord and a Nissan Altima. California Highway Patrol officials say the Ford F-150 pickup truck entered the 57 Freeway from Katella and went out of control, hitting the Accord. That set off a chain reaction crash. A teen skateboarder was critically injured in a San Diego car accident after he was hit while crossing the road, the night of December 28, 2009. According to a 10news report, the pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of East Vista Way and Arcadia Avenue. The 15-year-old boy was walking across East Vista Way when an SUV struck him and left the scene. The teenager suffered major head and internal injuries. He was taken to an area hospital and listed in critical condition. Authorities are still looking for the driver of the SUV who was last seen driving southbound on East Vista Way. Read More

An Orange County car accident left six people injured in an Anaheim Hills restaurant, after an elderly driver plowed through the storefront the afternoon of December 28, 2009. The Orange County Register reports that this car accident occurred in the 700 block of South Weir Canyon Road at a Subway Restaurant. A 79-year-old man apparently stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brakes crashing his Honda Accord into the restaurant and causing injuries to six people, including customers and employees. The Honda's driver was uninjured. However, four of the injured victims were taken to local hospitals. Read More

A man who was killed in a Newport Beach car accident the evening of December 24, 2009, has been identified as 24-year-old Ralph Abinader. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, this fatal car accident occurred when the Ferrari in which Abinader was a passenger went out of control on Pacific Coast Highway and slammed into a tow truck. Authorities say this fatal accident may have been caused by excessive speed, but they do not believe the driver of the Ferrari was under the influence at the time. The Ferrari's driver, whose name has not yet been released, sustained critical injuries in the accident while two people inside the tow truck suffered minor injuries. Read More

A teenager who was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after she was struck by a vehicle, has been identified as 17-year-old Deanae Weatherall. The Victorville Daily Press reports that the accident occurred on the Outer Highway 18 in Apple Valley, the evening of December 20, 2009, when the girl was walking along the roadway. The female driver who struck Deanae stopped after the crash. Deanae was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in this crash, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials. Two separate San Francisco car accidents have caused critical injures to pedestrians, who now appear to be fighting for their lives. According to a Bay City News report, both pedestrian-car collisions occurred within minutes of each other on the morning of December 21, 2009. The first involved a 54-year-old female pedestrian who was struck by a car at the intersection of Van Ness Avenue and Grove Street near City Hall. The second also involved a woman who was hit by a different vehicle in the area of Quint Street and Palou Avenue, in Bayview. Both woman have suffered life-threatening injuries and are being treated in San Francisco General Hospital. Read More

A man who was killed in a Los Angeles car accident the morning of December 20, 2009, has been identified by authorities as 49-year-old Jamel Kammoun. The Daily Breeze reports that the fatal pedestrian accident occurred when Kammoun was struck by a car driven by a 17-year-old, when he was out on his morning walk on Hawthorne Boulevard. The teen driver, who officials say was speeding, lost control of his vehicle which then jumped the curb and hit Kammoun. The critically injured pedestrian was taken to an area hospital where he died. The 17-year-old could face vehicular manslaughter charges. He has not been arrested pending a police investigation. Read More

An elderly woman who died from injuries sustained in a Ventura car accident has been identified as 84-year-old Mary Cox. According to a news report in the Ventura County Star, Cox was trying to cross Telegraph Road near Kennedy Avenue, the morning of November 25, 2009, when a vehicle driven by 89-year-old Fred Yoder struck her. Officials have held Yoder at-fault for the crash "for failing to exercise due care for the safety of any pedestrian upon a roadway." Authorities have not ruled out criminal charges against Yoder. Cox apparently died of pneumonia caused by the injuries she suffered in this pedestrian accident.

A San Diego truck accident that occurred the morning of December 18, 2009, has left a 24-year-old bicyclist seriously injured, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The major injury accident occurred at the intersection of Orange and Fairmount avenues in the City Heights area of San Diego. A semi-trailer apparently made a right turn from Orange on to Fairmount Avenue. The bicyclist, who was riding on the right side of the semi, got pinned under the right front tire of the big rig. He sustained major injuries to his lower body. The injuries are thankfully not life-threatening. Read More

A 26-year-old man who was fatally injured in a Riverside car accident has been identified as Javier Escobar Jr., 26. The Desert Sun reports that the accident tool place the night of December 14, 2009 on the eastbound 10 Freeway after he lost control of his car and crashed near Date Palm Drive. Escobar's Jeep slammed into the center divider and overturned several times ejecting him on to the roadway. He was pronounced dead later at a local hospital. According to California Highway Patrol officials speed and alcohol may have played a part in this fatal rollover accident. Read More
