Two were killed and two were injured in a San Diego car accident, which officials say was caused by tire failure. The fatal SUV rollover crash occurred the evening of November 9, 2009 on the 15 Freeway, 10 news reports. Ramon Arciniega, 40, was driving a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer SUV north on the Freeway when the tread separated from the left rear tire. Arciniega lost control of the vehicle, which went off the right shoulder and down an embankment, rolling over and landing on his roof. Arciniega and another passenger identified as 52-year-old Evangelina Quiroz were taken to an area hospital with injuries. The two deceased victims have not yet been identified.

Authorities have identified a bicyclist killed in an Orange County car accident the afternoon of November 7, 2009 as 26-year-old Christopher Alan Winkel. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, Huntington Beach police found Winkel lying on the roadway, injured and unconscious, at the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Banning Avenue. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. An investigation is being conducted by police to determine who or what caused this fatal bicycle accident. Authorities have identified a 34-year-old man who was fatally injured in a Los Angeles truck accident as Lavonte Ford. The car accident occurred early morning on November 6, 2009 after he was struck by a big rig on the 210 Freeway in Irwindale, the Pasadena Star News reports. Ford's 1985 Volkswagen apparently broke down near the Irwindale Avenue off ramp causing him to pull over to the freeway shoulder. As Ford tried to exit his car, the big rig hit him. California Highway Patrol officials said Ford died at the scene. The truck driver, who remained at the scene and called 911, was not cited or arrested. An investigation is ongoing.

An October 31, 2009 Orange County car accident has left a 62-year-old wheelchair-bound man with severe injuries after a hit-and run driver struck him, reports The Orange County Register. The accident happened near the street intersection of North Lacy Street and Wellington Avenue in Santa Ana, California when a large white van traveling west on Wellington struck the man. The man in the wheelchair who has not been identified yet, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The driver of the van fled the crash site. The vehicle should have front-end damage, officials said. A 19-year-old woman who was critically injured in a Los Angeles car accident involving a drunk driver has been identified as Taylor Marie Moss. Her family members told the Ventura County Star that she is on life support and is not expected to survive. Moss was struck by 27-year-old Hector J. Ortiz, who was traveling the wrong way on the northbound Highway 101 early morning on November 1, 2009. Moss' passengers also sustained injuries, but they are expected to recover. Ortiz is facing vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI charges in connection with this fatal car accident.

Jose Absalon Barrientos, 54, was killed in a San Francisco car accident after a suspected drunk driver crashed her van into his Harley Davidson motorcycle. According to a news report in the Santa Cruz Sentinel, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred the afternoon of November 1, 2009 when Sherri Lee Chinn, 38 crossed over to opposing traffic lanes on the Highway 1 north of Santa Cruz and struck Barrientos. The van also struck a BMW that was being driven by Barrientos' partner. Their 7-month-old daughter, who was strapped into a car seat, was uninjured. The driver of the BMW sustained minor injuries. One of two men riding in the van with Chinn also died from injuries.
