Car Accidents in Orange County

According to California Highway Patrol's 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS) there were eight fatalities and 842 injuries as a result of Irvine car accidents. Countywide, 178 people died and 14,185 were injured as a result of car accidents during the same year.

Based on this news report, it is not clear exactly how or why the woman lost control of the Expedition. There are many unanswered questions here. Did the woman fall asleep at the wheel or suffer a sudden medical condition? Was she impaired? Was there an auto product defect or a malfunction in the Expedition, which caused her to crash? Did a dangerous or defective roadway play a part?

Ford SUV Product Defects

The answers to those questions and more should help determine what caused this tragic crash. However, as auto product liability attorneys who have represented numerous injured victims over the last three decades, we know that Ford SUVs – especially the Explorer, Expedition and Excursion – have several design defects, which make them unstable, even at low speeds.

An experienced Orange County personal injury attorney, who has successfully handled Ford Expedition auto product defect cases will be able to advise this victim's family about their legal rights and options. It would be in their best interest to preserve the SUV unaltered so an expert can examine it for all evidence including, defects and malfunctions.
