Pedestrian Injured in San Diego Car Accident
A 26-year-old man sustained serious injuries in a San Diego car accident after he was hit by a vehicle, outside a Chula Vista restaurant. 10News reports that the incident occurred early morning on February 11, 2010 when the man, who was standing in the parking lot outside the Agave Grill, was struck down by a red, 1990s model Chevrolet Camaro. The driver fled the scene of the collision. The victim got up and went home because he felt fine at the time. But officials say several hours later he did not feel well and was taken to the hospital where it was discovered that he had sustained head injuries and internal bleeding as a result of the crash.
I sympathize with this seriously injured victim. This individual should have gone to the hospital or emergency room and then filed a police report right away. There are instances when people ignore accident injuries because they did not feel any pain initially. But we see several cases like this one where the victim feels fine right after the crash but later finds out that he or she has been severely injured. Usually, this happens with internal injuries.
Leaving the Scene of an Accident
If you are a motorist in California who fails to stop at the scene of a crash, you could be arrested for hit-and-run. According to California Vehicle Code section 20001: "The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident."
Liability Issues
The victim in this case would be well-served by contacting a skilled Chula Vista personal injury lawyer who has a successful track record holding negligent drivers and wrongdoers accountable for their actions. A skilled car accident lawyer will also be able to tell victims how the uninsured/underinsured clause of their car insurance policy applies to a hit-and-run accident or an accident caused by an uninsured or underinsured driver. In such cases, victims could seek compensation to cover medical expenses, lost earnings, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation, surgeries, physical therapy and other related expenses.

I agree. You should never ignore an accident. I hope that this person is ok and that they find the driver who hit him!
