The 47-year-old woman who was killed in a San Bernardino car accident the morning of October 14, 2009 has been identified as Seilose Uele Kisepi of Pomona. Kisepi was a passenger in a 2009 Kia Rio being driven by her husband, when he lost control of the car and struck the center median on the 10 Freeway east of Vineyard Avenue. The out-of-control Rio then struck two other vehicles – a Dodge pickup truck and a Buick – as well. Kisepi was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Seilose Uele Kisepi. I offer my heartfelt condolences to her family for their tragic loss. They will be in my prayers.

Car Accident Causes

In any car accident case, it is important to analyze various aspects. In this case, the recent rain could have left the road slick and created a dangerous condition, which caused Kisepi's husband to lose control. An auto product defect or mechanical malfunction in the Kia Rio could have caused the crash. Someone may have run the driver of the Rio off the roadway. The details provided in this news report are not sufficient to conclude how or why this fatal car accident may have occurred.

According to California Highway Patrol's 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 24 deaths and 1,244 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents in Ontario, California. In San Bernardino County as a whole, 308 fatalities and 9,920 injuries were reported in 2007 due to car accidents.

Auto Product Liability Issues

When an auto product defect is suspected, it is very important for the victim or the victim's family to preserve the vehicle in its current, crashed condition, unaltered, so that it may be examined by an expert for vehicle defects, malfunction and other evidence. If it is determined that an accident was the result of an auto product defect, the auto maker or the manufacturer of the defective product could be held liable for the accident and resulting injuries. It is always in a car accident victim's or their family's best interest to consult an experienced California personal injury lawyer who will keep up with the officials investigation and determine whether negligence played a role.
